Description:
Trimethoprim is an antibacterial agent with a bacteriostatic activity against many gram-negative
and gram-positive bacteria. Sulfadiazine is a sulfonamide antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity. The
combination (‘potentiated sulphas’) is bactericidal against a wide variety of gram-positive and
gram-negative bacteria as trimethoprim and sulfadiazine act synergistically.
Indications:
Gastrointestinal, respiratory and urogenital infections in swine and poultry, caused by
microorganisms susceptible to trimethoprim and/or sulfadiazine.
Treats:
Paratyphoid (Salmonellosis): Highly effective in treating Salmonella typhimurium infections, which cause swollen wing/leg joints, lameness, green watery droppings, and sudden weight loss.
E. coli Infections (Colibacillosis): Controls severe gastrointestinal bacterial infections causing crop stasis, vomiting, and foul-smelling diarrhea.
Bacterial Respiratory Tract Infections: Treats secondary bacterial complications (e.g., Pasteurella / Fowl Cholera) during hard racing phases or humid conditions.
Coccidiosis: Provides mild secondary coverage against coccidia oocysts due to the sulfa component.
Dosage:
Drinking Water: 5 g (approx. 1 level measuring spoon) per 2 Liters of drinking water.
